Hu WenguangĄ¯s Memorial

Hu WenguangĄ¯s Memorial Archway, built in the sixth year
of Wanli Period of Ming Dynasty (1578 A.D.), with three
gates, four pillars and five stories. It is a merits and
virtues archway to preach up his 32 years official career.
This archway was authorized and bestowed to build in his
hometown by Emperor because of super-excellent achievement
in his post. These 12.3 meters high, 9.95 meters wide archway
was made of grey Yixian stones in exquisite sculpture, basso-relievo,
so it is a true treasure in architectural field. The Hu
WenguangĄ¯s Memorial Archway is top-ranking in ancient Huizhou,
the symbol of the development and flourish of tourism in
Xidi Village. It was imitated by inverse proportion of 1:0.77
as the gate at Anhui Garden on EXPO Kunming in 1999. |
